Fitz-Thors Engineering, Inc. recently completed a project where our team designed and built a robot cell to automate a flame-treatment process for a major tier-1 automotive supplier. An ABB robot fitted with an Enercon Dyne-A-Flame Surface Treater flame-treats the parts held by custom designed fixtures. A Cognex vision system ensures the part is properly aligned and seated on the fixture before being treated . The cell was designed for maximum productivity by allowing four separate operating stations to be serviced by the centrally located robot.
